A dedicated IP address is needed when choosing to process Credit Cards online or needing a SSL connection for your users to safely submit their data online.
According to VISA regulations customers should have a SSL with a minimum of 128Bit Encryption. If you choose to do online credit cards, you will need the following (listed below).
- SSL Certificate (128Bit Encryption)
- Dedicated IP Address for SSL connection
Other instances that you may need a dedicated IP:
- Anonymous FTP
- Setting up your own DNS (Domain Name Servers.)
