Obtaining and using SSH

SSH (Secure Shell) is a secure replacement for Telnet, allowing you to access *NIX servers. Please note that Telnet has been disabled on all O2Link servers to protect your privacy. SSH is a great replacement for telnet, plus giving you more security to access your hosting service.
 
Activating SSH:
 
(1). Please contact O2Link Customer Support department for activation. Once this has feature has been activated, you will be able to login and perform the tasks accordingly below.
 
Obtaining SSH:

Compatible with: 95, 98, ME, NT, 2000, XP
 
Installation Process:
 
(1). Download Putty.exe
(2). Save it to your desktop
(3). Double Click on the “putty.exe” program
(4). In the “Hostname” field you will need to enter a domain or an IP address of your hosting service per the service activation letter.
(5). Select “SSH” as the Protocol
(6). Click Open
 
You will be prompted to accept the key for the server that is used for encryption.
Click “Yes.”
 
(7). Enter your username and password that was provided in the service activation email.

Compatible with: Apple OSX
 
With Apple, SSH is already installed (its in the command line).
 
Please do the following:
 
(1). Select “Applications” and click on the “Utilities” folder
(2). Click on “Terminal” Utility
(3*). In the command-line window, enter: ssh username@yourhostname.com
 
*You Can replace yourhostname.com with the actual IP address, for example: username@209.96.242.41
